Most Common Questions for Equine Photography Sessions

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

For your photo shoot, it’s best to wear clothing that is comfortable and doesn’t distract from the horse. Solid colours tend to work well, as do simple patterns. Avoid logos or busy patterns that could be distracting in the photos. You should also wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather and the location of the photo shoot. Make sure you have backup outfits in case – you never know what is going to happen at the barn. The best part of any package is the consultation meeting where we really dive deep into outfits to make sure you feel confident in what you are wearing!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE PHOTOSHOOT?

In addition to yourself and your horse, there are a few things that you should bring to your photo shoot. These include any props or accessories that you would like to include in the photos, such as hats, blankets, or tack. You should also bring any grooming supplies that you may need, such as brushes or hoof oil to make your horse look the best! Fun props I have are unicorn horns, wreaths, and thing halters that can be edited out! We can make a to-bring list in our consultation meeting!

HOW LONG DOES A PHOTOSHOOT TAKE

The length of a photo shoot can vary depending on several factors, such as the number of horses, the number of people, the theme of the shoot, and the location of the shoot. On average, a photo shoot can take anywhere from one to two hours.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR A PHOTOSHOOT?

The best time of day for a photo shoot is usually early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the light is softer and more diffuse. This type of light is more flattering for horses and can create beautiful, natural-looking photo

CAN I BRING MULTIPLE PEOPLE/HORSES TO THE SHOOT?

Yes, you can bring multiple horses to the photo shoot. In fact, many clients choose to have photos taken with multiple horses. Just be sure to let me know in advance so that I can plan accordingly as the more moving parts in the shoot the more planning involved! More horses/ people do increase the price of the shoot as well.

DO YOU OFFER DIGITAL FILES OF THE PHOTOS?

Yes, I do offer digital files of the photos, sold separately. as well as every print purchased comes with a digital file! These files can be downloaded from an online gallery, and you can use them to share on social media.  I am in the business of creating art, and believe an image isn’t truly finished until it is printed and displayed to be admired!

I hope that this has answered some of the frequently asked questions that equine photographers often get. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to help you plan your photo shoot and create beautiful, lasting memories of you and your horse.
